JCM Opening New Guitar Studies Course in Fall Semester

July 12, 2007

Jubilee College of Music (JCM) will introduce a new guitar studies course to the music fundamentals curriculum in September.

The course, listed as MS520 Class Guitar 1, will cover basic through intermediate-level principles, techniques and styles of playing the steel string acoustic guitar. Topics will include palm and left hand muting, strumming, picking and finger-picking and switching between right hand styles, capo usage, and equipment.

The course's primary instructor is Dr. Don Fugate. The course facilitator is JCM Assistant Director Emily Ko.

"There's been a lot of demand for this course," said Ko, a classical and contemporary worship guitarist for more than 8 years. "We envision that the feedback we receive from the fall semester course will be a springboard for future course offerings in guitar studies."

Registration for Class Guitar 1 will be open to all ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ students, though priority will be given to music students.  Information about early registration is available through the office of Jubilee College of Music.
